About LEED
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED addresses all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality. LEED provides immediate and measurable results for building owners and occupants. By living in a LEED Gold building, residents will benefit in a number of ways, benefits include:
- Excellent indoor air quality as the project pursues the Enhanced Ventilation credit – This is achieved through the installation of an enhanced exhaust and ventilation system to minimize moisture problems and occupants’ exposure to indoor pollutants.
- Reduced water consumption as the project pursues the Indoor Water use credit – This is achieved through the installation of high-efficiency water fixtures and fittings. All lavatory, showerhead, and toilet fixtures installed with low-flow fixtures designed to achieve water savings.
- Reduced energy consumption as the project pursues the Annual Energy Use credit – This is achieved through the completion of an energy model comparing the proposed buildings performance to a USGBC-approved baseline building performance.
These and other elements combine to create a healthier living space and improve the indoor environment for all occupants.
